About White's Woodworking Shop

My passion for carpentry and woodworking is something I inherited from my father, who inherited it from his father. You could say sawdust runs thick through our veins.

My journey toward becoming a carpenter began during high school. Shop class confirmed that my future would be in the construction industry, and by the time I was seventeen, I had already helped build two houses and completed numerous renovation projects.

After graduation, I registered in Ontario’s carpentry apprenticeship program and began working toward becoming a Red Seal journeyperson carpenter. Over the next four years, I worked on a variety of commercial construction projects throughout Toronto while completing the required work hours and trade school training. Once my apprenticeship was complete, I attended college for three years and earned a diploma in Construction Engineering Technology – Management.

For nearly four decades in the construction industry, woodworking has remained my creative outlet. When I am not tearing something apart and rebuilding it, I can usually be found in the shop putting my finish carpentry skills to work and creating something new.

The RSE designation after my name stands for Red Seal Endorsement. It reflects the apprenticeship training, trade school education, practical experience and certification examination required to earn my Certificate of Qualification as a General Carpenter.

Woodworking has always been part of who I am, and White’s Woodworking Shop gives me the opportunity to combine a lifetime of experience with the enjoyment of creating one-of-a-kind pieces for others.
